On April 28, I had the pleasure of presenting a nutrition workshop titled "Healthy Lifestyle for People with Diabetes" at the SWOBODA Deaf Center in Chicago, alongside my fantastic teammate, Diana Hill. Together, we inspired participants to explore how a low-fat, whole-food, plant-based diet can not only manage but potentially reverse diabetes and other chronic diseases. The workshop included a fun and energizing 5-minute cardio chair exercise, followed by a tasting of delicious plant-based treats: green fruit smoothies, green hummus with fresh veggies, and energizing snack balls. Participants were excited and engaged—many were surprised to learn the powerful role diet plays in diabetes prevention and reversal. We also gave away great prizes, including plant-based diabetes cookbooks, Forks Over Knives recipe magazines, and a Whole Foods Market gift card. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Survey responses showed genuine enthusiasm, and many asked us to return for future sessions. I'm truly looking forward to hearing their success stories and continuing this journey together toward better health!
